HERITAGE CLUB NEWSLETTER Member of Heritage Clubs International, Inc January 2009 Dear Heritage Club Friends, As we look back at all the happenings of 2008 I think we are all looking forward to new and better things for 2009! I would like to thank you for all your friendship, your support and your willingness to travel and attend our functions the past year. We absolutely have the best club and you, the members are the reason why. I value each and every one of you and look forward to a new year of exciting adventures together. "UPCOMING EVENTS" February 12 Ladies Day Out - Des Moines We will start our day with a stop at the Botanical Gardens for pastries and coffee or tea. next we will go to Jorday Creek for shopping and lunch. Enjoy lunch at one of Jorday Creek's many restaurants. In the afternoon we will go to Merle Hay Mall for more shopping and a quick dinner break before we depart for home. The price per person is $35 and due when you sign up. We could use a few more - how about inviting a friend? February 24 Bingo - 2:00 PM - Bank Community Room Join us for a fun afternoon playing Bingo and visitng with your Heritage Club friends. Refreshments will be served. Please call in your reservations. March 12 Mystery 1 Our first Mystery Trip of the year will take us to a very interesting destination! (Aren't they all!) We will see some unusual sites and taste some very different cuisine. Of course you won't want to miss this adventure! The price is $69 with a $25 deposit due when you sign up and the balance due February 12. March 26 - NEW! Legacy Planning - College Education for Grandchildren Seminar - 10:00 AM - Bank Community Room - Sponsored by Doug Bagby of Eagle One Investments. Refreshments will be served. Please call in your reservation. April 9 - New! Australia & New Zealand Pre-departure Party 10:00 AM - Bank Community Room. April 14 - New! Honey Creek Lodge - Lake Rathbun - Moravia Join us for a tour of this new exciting facility. Before arriving at the lodge, we will stop at Rathbun Fish Hatchery where we see a film and have a guided tour. April is the time of year the walley are collected from Rathbun and taken back to the hatchery where they are spawned and then returned to the lake. We will hopefully be able to see this process. We will enjoy lunch at the new Honey Creek Lodge then have a tour of the beautiful facility followed by a program by Kenneth Hamilton from the DNR. This should be a very interesting day. Price per person is $46. April 23-May 7 South Pacific Wonders Australia & New Zealand Price per person/double occupancy is $4,749.00. We may still be able to add you to the group. Please don't delay if you are interested in this incredible journey. Final payment is due Feb. 22, 2009. May 13 - NEW! Picnic - Noon - (Place to be announced later) Join us for our annual (indoor) picnic. We will provide the fried chicken and beverages. We ask that you bring a dish to share and your own table service. Please call in your reservations by May 8. May 20 "Church Basement Ladies" - Circa 21 Theater - Rock Island, IL The church basement kitchen throughout much of America is often the heart and soul of any church. Like any great kitchen, problems are solved here as well. We see four women handle a Lutefisk Dinner, a funeral, and Easter Fund Raiser, a wedding and a pastor in this hilarious musical. The price is $89.00 per person with a $25 deposit due when you sign up. September 26 "Wicked" Des Moines Civic Center Long before that girl from Kansas arrives in Munchkin land, two girls meet in the land of Oz. One - born with emerald green skin - is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. How these two grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and GLinda and Good Witch makes for "the most complete, and completely satisfying, new musical in a long time" (USA Today). On Broadway and around the world, WICKED has worked it's magic on critics and audiences alike. "Sneak Preview" Trips in the Works July 14 - Waterloo - The new Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum addition to the Grout Museum plus an extraordinary lunch at Galleria de Paco where you will see the recreated magnificent "Sistine Chapel" ceiling which was completely done using the media of aerosol by the world renowned artist Paco Posic. We will finish the day with a tram tour of the John Deere plant. Price TBA. Ocotber 6-10? Western Wisconsin Fall Adventure This adventure will be packed with incredible destinations like McGregor, IA, Prairie du Chien, La Crosse, Eau Claire, Black River Falls and Trempealeau County, WI. and intreesting activities llike a horse drawn wagon ride, dinner and entertainment at Cabin Ridge, tour of Paul Bunyan Logging Camp, Old World Amish Tour, scenic cruise, Jain Bailers Show, cranberry marsh tour, Fanny Hill Dinner Theater and lots more. Mark your calendar for this fantastic and affordable adventure. Price TBA November ? Creamery Theater - Amana "The Honky Tonk Angels Holiday Spectacular" and lunch at one of Amana's fine restaurants. December 1-4 "Branson Country Christmas" The shows for 2009 include: The Baldknobbers, Hughes Brothers Christmas Show, Tony Orlando and The Lennon Sisters, The Osmond Brother's Show, Dalena Ditto Variety Show, Country Tonight and Shoji Tabuchi Christmas Show.
